This doesn’t work.
Delete me if you must. This doesn’t work- it’s another urban legend. Believe me, I know.
Yeah, old stuff. What was the web site ? Something about Easter Eggs… And the elevators I have tried this one do not support this feature.
The only thing that will make this work is the access key for the elevator.
I think I’m going to take vaders word for it. Notice there is a 5 hour difference between posts? He tried it.
What he is describing is a function called “Independant Service”. He left out one very important part of the process- inserting the Independant Service key into the key switck, turning it on, and removing the key.
The close door button is a placebo button and does nothing unless the key is inserted.
why does the lift in the image above have no floors with the number 4 in it? 4, 14, 24?
@no4 Chinese fear the number 4… so those floors do not exist. Don’t know if they are empty or just the labeling is off…
@no4 @Atrocity yes in chinese ’4′ sounds very similar to ‘death’ and so is avoided – even if ’4′ floors were built it’s unlikely anyone would use them

This definitely works and is worth trying out! There is a way that the function can be disabled though, so it doesn’t technically work on ALL elevators. In a large office building that I used to work in, the company that managed the building disabled the door close/floor number hold and emergency services people had a key they used to achieve the same thing. So try it, but if it doesn’t work, you’re not necessarily doing it wrong.
